    An Interdistrict Transfer is the required enrollment process when a student wishes to attend a school within the Hillsborough City School District (HCSD) but currently resides in and attends a different school district.

    HCSD Policy and Waitlist

    The Hillsborough City School District accepts interdistrict transfer requests, governed by Board Policy (BP) 5117 and its corresponding Administrative Regulation.

    The Interdistrict Transfer Waitlist for the 2026-2027 school year will open online at 8:30 AM on December 15, 2025.

    Waitlist Priority: Priority placement on the waitlist is strictly given to families who meet the criteria outlined in BP 5117. All remaining transfer requests are added to the waitlist in the order they are received.

    Key Enrollment Notifications

    • Status Notification: Due to the need to account for fluctuating enrollment and the number of new families moving into the district, applicants will not be notified of their placement status until August 2026 (potentially as late as the day before school begins).

    • Guaranteed Enrollment: Please understand that guaranteed enrollment is reserved only for families who currently reside within the Hillsborough district boundaries. Interdistrict transfers are not guaranteed placement in HCSD schools.
