    South Preschool Relocation: The South Preschool, currently located at the HCSD District Office, will move to the South School campus. The preschool will move into the former Tiger Learning Center located near the entrance of the school. The completion date for this project is To Be Determined. 

    New 4th and 5th Grade Classroom Buildings: The current portable classrooms housing 4th and 5th grade classrooms will be removed and new classrooms will be built in the same location. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.

    Roofing and HVAC: New roofing has been installed across the South School campus with the addition of new heating and air conditioning units in all classrooms and office spaces. 

    Fire Alarm System Upgrade: New fire alarm systems have been successfully installed on the South School Campus. The project was tested and final approval from the Division of State Architects (DSA) is scheduled for November 2025. 

    Security Camera and Safety Programs: HCSD partnered directly with Verkada Security Systems and has installed security cameras on all campuses and at the District Office. Additionally, ActVNet First Responder Access was also completed, improving security and rapid response during emergencies.

    South School A-Pod Lighting: All light fixtures across the South School campus have been replaced with new LED lighting in every classroom. This new lighting system brings 4,000 kelvins for each fixture creating a brighter and more inviting atmosphere for learning.

    Marquee Board: A new Marquee Board was installed during the summer of 2024. The new Marquee Board is completely electronic so staff and parent volunteers are able to make changes to the messaging electronically. The Marquee Board is the same type and style that is used by the Town of Hillsborough allowing for consistency should any emergency messaging be needed across the town.   

    Classroom Technology: During the summer of 2023, SmartBoards were deployed into each classroom on the South campus. All teachers received training on using the new SmartBoards and implementation is taking place across all classrooms. Smartboard within a classroom

    Painting: During the summer of 2023, the exterior of the South School campus was painted. Paint colors were chosen with the input of students, staff and parents.

    UPS Upgrades: The District replaced its Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems with network technology to provide critical power backup for each site to keep the network functioning and allow it to safely be powered down despite power failures.
